학교소개
세계 최고의 교수진과 시설을 갖춘 150년 전통의 오벌린 음대는 워싱턴 포스트로부터 '미국의 보물'이라는 평가를 받기도 한 미국의 대표적인 음대중 하나이다. 오벌린 음대의 졸업생들은 솔리스트 뿐만 아니라 세계 유명 오케스트라 소속,
지휘자, 작곡가들이며 미국 내 콘서바토리중 가장 긴 역사를 자랑하고 있다.
매년 전 세계의 수많은 학생들이 지원을 하지만 120명 정도만이 신입생으로 선발되어 총원 580명 정도로 운영되는, 다른 명문 음대들과 마찬가지로 한 자리수의 합격율을 보이고 있다.
5개의 연주 홀을 비롯해 150개의 연습실, 200대가 넘는 Steinway 피아노를 갖추고 있는등 음악 공부를 하기 위한 최상의 환경을 갖추고 있고 학생:교수 비율이 6:1 정도로 수준 높은 교육과정을 제공해 세계적인 인기와 명성을 유지하고 있다.
복수전공을 하는 학생들이 180여명에 이를 정도로 커리큘럼이 잘 짜야 있으며 다양한 공부를 할 수 있기도 하다.
